WHAT IT IS

Hydrophilic butyl waterstop seal is a swellable rubber or bentonite-based strip placed in construction joints and expansion joints in below-ground and wet-area concrete structures in Malaysia. Available in 5–7.5 m rolls in profile sizes such as 20 mm (W) × 15 mm (T) and 25 mm (W) × 19 mm (T), it is applied into a groove or adhered to one concrete face before the adjacent pour. On contact with water, the material swells to fill voids and seal the joint permanently against water infiltration. Used in basements, water-retaining tanks, tunnels, swimming pools, and lift pits in Malaysia where hydrostatic pressure acts on below-grade concrete joints. Also known as pengedap henti air hidrofil, swellable waterstop, superswell waterstop, and 亲水止水条.
