WHAT IT IS

General-purpose silicone sealant is a single-component room-temperature-vulcanising (RTV) rubber compound used for weatherproofing joints in Malaysian glazing, curtain walls, and wet areas. Available in 280 ml and 300 ml cartridges and 600 ml sausage packs, it cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture to form a permanently flexible seal. Acetoxy-cure grades suit glass and most non-porous surfaces; neutral-cure grades are required for natural stone, marble, concrete, and coated metals where acetic acid release would cause damage. Sanitary grade with mould inhibitor is specified for bathrooms, kitchens, and other wet-area joints. Elongation at break exceeds 200%; service temperature range –40 °C to +180 °C.
