INSULATION
Glass Wool (Fibreglass) Roof Insulation is a lightweight thermal and acoustic insulation manufactured from recycled glass fibres, used for roofs and ceilings in Malaysian residential and commercial buildings. Classified under HS 7019801000, import duty 20%, SST 10%. Produced to MS 1020, density 8–24 kg/m³, thermal conductivity λ ≈ 0.030–0.038 W/m·K. Available foil-faced (aluminium foil acts as a radiant barrier) or unfaced; roll width 1.2 m, lengths 10–20 m, thickness 25–75 mm. Lower density than rock wool and slightly lower cost; sensitive to moisture if face is damaged. Foil-faced variants are common in Malaysia's tropical climate where radiant heat reduction is a primary driver of roof insulation selection.
Typical pack size: Roll: 1.2 m wide × 10–20 m; thickness 25 mm, 50 mm, 75 mm; Faced (with kraft/foil facing) or unfaced
Glass wool to MS 1020 (Thermal insulation products — mineral wool). Density 8–24 kg/m³. Thermal conductivity λ ≈ 0.030–0.038 W/m·K. Available faced (aluminium foil-faced for radiant barrier) or unfaced. Lower density than rock wool; higher sensitivity to moisture if not protected.
