SOLAR ROOF VENTILATORS
A solar-powered roof ventilator is an active roof exhaust fan driven by an integral photovoltaic panel, used to ventilate roof spaces in Malaysian residential and commercial buildings without grid electricity. The DC motor fan extracts hot, humid air from the roof cavity during daylight hours, outperforming passive turbine ventilators on low-wind days. Supplied as a complete unit comprising fan, integrated solar panel (typically 10–20 W), housing, and flashing base. Throat diameter 250–350 mm; rated airflow 250–600 m³/h. Increasingly specified as an energy-saving measure for Malaysia's climate. Installed on the roof slope, not at the ridge. Some models include a thermal on/off switch.
Typical pack size: Sold as complete unit (fan + integral solar panel + housing + flashing base); throat diameter 250–350 mm; PV panel 10–30W; fan airflow 250–600 m³/h
DC motor fan powered by integrated monocrystalline or polycrystalline solar panel (typically 10–20W). Operates only in daylight. No grid connection. Some models include thermal ON/OFF switch. No specific Malaysian MS standard; imported primarily from China/Australia. ST1 switch-on temperature optional.
