WHAT IT IS

Cement latex (bonding agent) is a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) or acrylic polymer emulsion mixed into cement mortars and renders to improve adhesion, flexibility, and waterproofing in Malaysian construction. Sold in 18 L pails and 5 L containers, it is diluted with water before blending with OPC or PCC cement. Contractors use it for tile-bed mortar, waterproof render on wet rooms and rooftops, patch repairs to concrete surfaces, and as a slurry bonding primer before plastering on existing substrates. The polymer chains bridge old and new cement layers, reducing delamination risk in Malaysia's high-humidity environment.
