BRICK
Clay brick (common brick) is a kiln-fired masonry unit made from clay or shale, used primarily for non-load-bearing partition walls and infill panels in framed structures across Malaysia. Produced to MS 76:1972 (Specification for Bricks and Blocks of Fired Brickearth, Clay or Shale), the standard Malaysian common brick measures 215 × 102.5 × 65 mm and is delivered palletised at approximately 650 pieces per pallet. Common brick compressive strength is typically ≥5 N/mm²; engineering brick ≥20 N/mm². SIRIM-regulated product. Bricks are laid in cement–sand mortar at a typical 1:4 mix ratio. Widely known in the local trade as bata merah or bata tanah liat.
